Text of pending federal legislation that relates to vocational education has been made available in a new area of VocServe called VOC ED LEGISLATION TEXT. Three bills currently under consideration (S.6, S.143, and S.180) are now available, and others will be added at users' request.
Selected K12-NET Discussions Now on VocServe
Four K12-Net discussion groups (k12.ed.business, k12.ed.comp.literacy, k12.ed.life-skills, and k12.ed.tech) are now available on VocServe. Users without direct access to newsgroups can keep up with the K12 discussions via VocServe.

From NCRVE. The following executive summaries have been added to the NCRVE MATERIALS / EXECUTIVE SUMMARIES area of VocServe:

In addition, the tables of contents for NCRVE's digest of research, Change Agent, are now online. Look in the NCRVE MATERIALS area of VocServe to find the tables of contents of volumes 1-4 (1990-94) of Change Agent. Back issues (in paper copy) and some individual articles in electronic form are available from the NCRVE Materials Distribution Service.
From Other Groups. Twenty curriculum abstracts have been added to the PROJECT VANGUARD CURRICULUM BANK, and a number of resources have been added to the LEP PROJECT area of VocServe
VOCNET Subscription List Passes the 900 Mark
VOCNET, NCRVE's listserv discussion list, has grown 35% since December 1, to the current high of 959 subscribers. More than 300 items have been posted during the past three months, by about 200 different users. See the instructions below to see how you can participate!
How to Connect to VocServe and VOCNET
VocServe--To connect over the internet, telnet to vocserve.berkeley.edu; if you do not have access to telnet or if you prefer to connect directly by modem, dial 510-643-6793 (modem settings are 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit; speed can be up to 14,400 bits per second). Type GUEST at the initial prompt to have a look around. To create a permanent account on the system, type NEW at the initial prompt and you will enter the online registration process.
VOCNET--To subscribe, send a one-line e-mail message to listserv@cmsa.berkeley.edu that says:
subscribe vocnet firstname lastname
For example, Carl Perkins would send the message
subscribe vocnet Carl Perkins
Once you have subscribed, you may post items to VOCNET by sending e-mail to vocnet@cmsa.berkeley.edu; your message will be distributed by e-mail to all subscribers.
