New Items and Features Appear on the NCRVE World Wide Web Server

A new WWW search program was added in July. It allows users to use keywords to search all items on the NCRVE server, including full text of many NCRVE publications, newsletters, and digests. Check it out at http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/eg.acgi.

The NCRVE Calendar of Events has been transformed to a Web-searchable database; check out the new interface at http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/CalendarPage.html.

The NCRVE Office of Student Services offers a variety of information, including databases and full text of newsletters and briefs at http://ncrve-oss.ed.uiuc.edu/.

A page of links to useful vocational education-related internet sites continues to grow. Please check out the current (small) collection (at http://ncrve.berkeley. edu/OtherSites.html and feel free to pipe in with your own suggestions.

Here are some other items added to the Web in the last two months:

VOCNET and DISSMN8 Continue to Grow

VOCNET, NCRVE's listserv discussion list for all voc ed topics, currently has about 1,485 subscribers, up about one percent from 1 July 1996. Approximately 192 items were posted in July-August, by 141 different users.

DISSMN8, NCRVE's listserv discussion list for educational dissemination-related topics, now boasts 114 subscribers, up 12% from 1 July 1996. If you are interested in having input on what a National Educational Dissemination System (NEDS) might look like, please join in.

How to Connect to NCRVE Electronic Services

VOCNET--To subscribe, send a one-line e-mail message to listserv@cmsa.berkeley.edu that says:

subscribe vocnet yourfirstname yourlastnameFor example, Carl Perkins would send the message

subscribe vocnet Carl Perkins

Once you have subscribed, you may post items to VOCNET by sending e-mail to vocnet@cmsa.berkeley. edu; your message will be distributed by e-mail to all subscribers. VOCNET also exists as the Netnews newsgroup bit.listserv.vocnet.

DISSMN8--To subscribe, send a one-line e-mail message to listserv@cmsa.berkeley.edu that says:

subscribe dissmn8 yourfirstname yourlastnameFor example, Carl Perkins would send the message

subscribe dissmn8 Carl Perkins

World Wide Web--Point your internet WWW browser (Netscape, Mosaic, Lynx, etc.) to http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/

Gopher--Point your Gopher client (TurboGopher, Netscape, etc.) to gopher://ncrve.berkeley.edu

FTP--Point your FTP program (Fetch, Netscape, etc.) to ftp://ncrve.berkeley.edu/FTP/ Log in with the user ID anonymous, and provide your e-mail address as the password.
