AWARDS AND HONORS

Outstanding Research.

Two NCRVE researchers from the University of Minnesota were honored at the most recent national American Vocational Association (AVA) convention. Dr. Qetler Jensrud and Dr. Jerome Moss won the Outstanding Research Manuscript award for their paper Gender, Research and Leadership. This award-winning paper is now part of the NCRVE Reprint Series and can be purchased by contacting the Materials Distribution Service, 1-800-637-7652 (ask for document number MDS-769).

The American Vocational Education Research Association (AVERA) has awarded Dr. Jerome Moss the Meritorious Service Award for "research contributions to vocational education over the past three to five years."

Outstanding Managers.

On May 7, the University of California's Berkeley Staff Assembly presented its annual Excellence in Management Awards to a standing-room-only gathering. Two NCRVE managers, Erika Neilsen-Andrew and Peter Seidman, were among those honored.

Nominations originate from staff directly supervised by the nominee. Each year a theme is selected; this year's awards recognized supervisors and managers who have exhibited outstanding leadership in coaching staff to meet the challenge of organizational readiness. Erika Nielsen-Andrew manages NCRVE's Development program, which includes the Urban Schools Network and joint NCRVE-BASRC projects (see cover article). Peter Seidman manages NCRVE's Dissemination program, which includes NCRVE's electronic services, CenterWork, public information, and the publishing of all research and development documents.
