The Perkins Act, with its emphasis on integrating vocational and academic education, has reinforced the trend toward more academic components within vocational programs, especially at the secondary level. However, there has been little guidance on this subject for community colleges and technical institutes. To fill this gap, the authors surveyed more that 200 postsecondary institutions across the United States to find out how they are handling integration. The results of this survey are discussed in this article originally printed in the February 1993 Vocational Education Journal.
