Recent large-scale reforms such as Tech Prep and school-to-work present teachers with a range of complex new tasks and responsibilities. These may include developing and teaching collaborative curriculum, participating in school-based management, and functioning as members of school/community/workplace teams. This document summarizes professional development activities that can prepare teachers to succeed at these new responsibilities. Quotations from educators, administrators, and business and community representatives vividly describe the different activities and their effects on teachers and students alike. Teachers interested in professional development that will increase their effectiveness in school-to-work transition programs will find a wealth of ideas in this report.
